XPS 13 notebook computer. This week Dell has not only released the highest resolution 11-inch 2-in-1 Ultrabook, the new Dell XPS 11, the Texas-based computer maker has also made the next generation 13-inch Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook available for the first time.

Available starting at $999.99 on Dell.com the new Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook offers a 13.3-inch 1080p Full HD touch optional display, Intel’s 4th generation Haswell processors and HD Graphics, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 256GB of SSD storage.

Featuring the same Silver machined aluminum over Carbon Fiber design that was introduced to the world for the first time in 2012 with the original Dell XPS 13, the newly updated late 2013 Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook can still be described as a 11-inch sized laptop with a 13.3-inch display. The proportions for this laptop that does include a full-size backlit keyboard include a carrying weigh of under 3 pounds and a thickness that ranges from 6mm up to 18mm.

The exterior design hasn’t changed but the new Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is faster than the previous years model.

For the new premium 13-inch Ultrabook Dell has included some of Intel’s new Haswell processing chips and the updated integrated HD Graphics that come along with them. In particular the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is offered with three processors a Core i3, a Core i5 and a Core i7 all dual-core and all low-voltage chips (best option for power efficiency).

The three chips are spread across three main system configurations that Dell offers for the new XPS 13. The base XPS 13 model is $999.99 and features the Intel Core i3-4010U processor (3M Cache, 1.7 GHz). Dell’s second configuration for the XPS 13 is priced at $1,299.99 and includes the Intel Core i5-4200U processor (3M Cache, up to 2.6 GHz). Lastly, the most expensive XPS 13 configuration is $1,499.99 and incorporates the Intel Core i7-4500U processor (4M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz).

Dell XPS 13 touch optionEach of those processors offers you varying degrees of central processing performance, but each chip is going to come paired with the same integrated Intel graphics chip. The mid-range Intel® HD Graphics 4400 chip is the graphics processor every Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook configuration will come equipped with. The 4400 isn’t Intel’s best integrated graphics solution, but it is a good chip for providing smooth HD media playback and smooth but light PC gaming at reduced resolutions.

Just like with the new Dell XPS 11 the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook has three main configurations that don’t offer a great deal of customization. This is a notable change from the formula that some Dell customers have come to be accustomed to, in the past Dell computers could be customized in all the major areas CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage drives. However lacking in customization options the new three-tier formula offers a more simple buying experience for customers who now only need to decide between good, better, and best.

You can check out the new Dell XPS 13 on Dell.com now where the laptop is available for immediate purchase.
